Perennial Hibiscus – The Stars of the Summer Garden

Their dinner-plate-sized flowers can measure 8 to 12 inches across, creating an eye-catching display from midsummer into early fall. They thrive in full sun, appreciate consistent watering during hot weather, and attract butterflies and other beneficial pollinators.

New Varieties Now Available

Our newest shipment includes these outstanding perennial hibiscus varieties:

  • Cherry Choco Latte – Rich pink blooms accented with deep burgundy foliage that provides season-long interest.

  • Spinderella – Elegant white petals with striking red centers that create a dramatic pinwheel effect.

  • Inner Glow – Warm, glowing blooms that brighten perennial beds and mixed borders.

  • Marshmallow Moon – Large, soft white blossoms with colorful centers that stand out beautifully in the evening garden.

Annuals - Rudbeckia, Cherry Brandy

Cherry Brandy Rudbeckia: A Summer‑Long Showstopper for Boise and the Treasure Valley

If you’re looking for a flower that can handle Idaho’s intensive heat, tough soils, and still deliver knockout color, Cherry Brandy Rudbeckia is your new garden hero. This unique variety bursts with deep cherry‑red blooms all summer long and it features rich, velvety petals that look almost unreal in the sunlight. It’s bold, it’s reliable, and it thrives exactly where Treasure Valley gardeners need it most.

Built for Treasure Valley Conditions

Cherry Brandy is perfectly suited for our region’s hot, dry summers and clay‑leaning soils. Here’s why it performs so well in Boise:

  • Heat‑tolerant: Loves our intense summer sun and warm evenings

  • Handles poor soils: Performs beautifully even in less‑than‑ideal Treasure Valley ground

  • Low humidity friendly: Thrives in our dry climate

  • Hardy in the right zones: Winter hardy in mild areas, but often grown as an annual here

  • Fast bloomer: Flowers in its first year from seed when planted in early spring

This is the kind of plant that doesn’t complain, it just gets to work.

Planting and Growing Notes for Boise Gardeners

Soil

Cherry Brandy isn’t picky, but it shines brightest in:

  • Average, well‑drained soil

  • Medium moisture

  • Beds amended with compost or soil conditioner (especially helpful in Boise’s clay soils)

Sunlight

  • Full sun is essential. Give it 6–8 hours of direct light for the richest red blooms.

Watering

  • Water consistently during establishment

  • Once growing strong, it tolerates dry spells

  • Avoid overwatering—our clay soils can hold more moisture than you expect

Bloom Time

  • June through frost Expect nonstop color from early summer until the cold shuts things down in the fall.

Why Treasure Valley Gardeners Love It

  • Adds dramatic, unexpected color to summer beds

  • Perfect for pollinator gardens and bees adore it

  • Great in containers, borders, and cut‑flower arrangements

  • Stands out against golds, oranges, and purples that are commonly used in Idaho landscapes

Cherry Brandy Rudbeckia is the kind of plant customers remember and come back for.

Pro Tip from Aloha Home and Garden

For the strongest plants and longest bloom season, pair Cherry Brandy with:

  • A light layer of mulch to conserve moisture

  • Morning watering is important during our hot July and August heat

  • Occasional deadheading to encourage fresh blooms

It’s a low‑maintenance beauty that rewards even beginner gardeners. We have this and outer perennials in stock, so stop by our garden center and see what’s new. We’re located at 4291 S. Cloverdale Rd. in Boise or you can call us at 208.350.6888.

Happy gardening Treasure Valley.
