A Hawaii native who made his way to Idaho on a football scholarship. After earning two degrees at the College of Idaho and a passion for education, Dennis taught at a Boise school. A few years later, he was offered and managed Garden Center West. His interest in the agriculture industry led him to his next venture where he became interested in the florist industry. With an interest in the floral business, he soon opened a floral shop in the Boise Towne Square Mall. That business taught him to have an interest in landscaping. Sometime later in sold his floral business and founded Aloha Landscape and Sprinkler, which he successfully operated for around 30 years. On January 1, 2025, he created Aloha Home and Garden and is the Certified Chief Gardener, located at 4291 S. Cloverdale Rd. where The Home & Garden Store was previously located and the owner, Charlie Hartman semi-retired from this business. Charlie is now working part-time for Dennis. Charlie brings an extensive amount of knowledge to the newly founded company as well as the community he lives in.
Hello – I’m Charlie, the Certified Assistant Chief Gardener at Aloha Home and Garden. I have been working part-time for Dennis the past couple of years, helping him develop a small, locally owned nursery here in the Treasure Valley.

I have over 50 years of nursery experience and l'm an Idaho Certified Nurseryman.
​
My wife and I have several children and grandchildren who have have worked for The Home & Garden Store which I previously owned. Many of our gardening friends know Shannon, our daughter as well as several of our grandchildren, that being Shay, Gavin and Liam, all who have taken a great deal of pride in our past business over the years. Each of them helped in developing The Home & Garden Store into the success it was. Having owned a small business gave us the opportunity to provide our customers with quality plants and merchandise, along with outstanding service.

I would also like to add a special THANK YOU to our family - My wife and I are very proud of all our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I hope they all know we are there for them if they ever need us!
